Morocco Truckers Announce Strike Starting September 14

Fuel subsidies top the list of demands: professionals argue that the current diesel subsidy, set at around 50 centimes per liter, no longer keeps pace with rising operating costs, and are calling for it to be increased and paid out monthly and regularly to ease the impact of fuel prices on transport costs. The signatory unions are also contesting the 75% VAT withholding rate, which they say strains company cash flow and their ability to meet financial obligations. The demands further include a review of the truck fleet renewal and scrapping assistance program, particularly the premium amount, which they consider too low, and the inclusion of VAT in its calculation, which creates tax complications for some beneficiary companies.
