Morocco School Year 2026: Student Absences Monitored From Sept 7

Moroccan schools are preparing to implement strict daily monitoring of student absences starting from the new school year, set to begin on September 7, 2026. The Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports has issued instructions to regional education and training academies and provincial directorates to ensure this measure is applied from the very first day of classes.

The ministry asked schools to begin daily recording of student absences as soon as the school year starts, stressing that classes and scheduled activities must begin at their set times without waiting for students arriving late. Provincial directorates have also been asked to submit periodic reports on the progress of schooling, using standardized templates adopted by the ministry to track the situation on the ground.

Enrollment and Logistics Ahead of the School Year

The ministerial note stresses that student enrollment must not be delayed by administrative fees or registration procedures. Academies and provincial directorates have also been asked to ensure that boarding facilities, school meal services and student transport are ready before the school year begins. The instructions also cover coordination with retailers of textbooks and school supplies to guarantee their availability to families within the set deadlines.
