Morocco Wins 26 Medals, Finishes 3rd at 2026 African Karate Championship
Morocco's national karate team finished 3rd overall at the 2026 African Karate Championship in Algiers, collecting 26 medals including 5 golds in team kata and individual kumite.
Morocco's national karate team wrapped up the 2026 African Karate Championship, held in Algiers from September 10 to 13, in 3rd place in the overall medal standings, with a total of 26 medals: 5 gold, 14 silver and 7 bronze.
Morocco's five gold medals
The first gold went to the men's senior team kata, made up of Abderrahmane Chakir, Adam Rchouq and Tijani Lamoun. The remaining golds came in individual kumite events, as follows:

A season of training at Bouznika
The Royal Moroccan Karate Federation said the results were the product of a season-long preparation program at the national center in Bouznika, combining physical, technical and mental training with sessions tailored to each competition category.

Morocco's age-category athletes are now set for the World Championships in Poland from October 14 to 18, followed by the World Team Cup in China from November 20 to 22, 2026 — two events the federation will look to use to build on the momentum from Algiers.
