Royal Air Maroc signed an agreement with Boeing to renovate the cabins of seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft, on the sidelines of the Marrakech Air Show, in preparation for Morocco's hosting of the 2030 World Cup.

Royal Air Maroc signed a partnership agreement with Boeing on Thursday, October 8, 2026, on the sidelines of the eighth edition of the Marrakech Air Show, held at the Royal Air Force Marrakech Air Base. The agreement provides for the renovation of the cabins of seven Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, in a move that comes in preparation for Morocco's hosting of the 2030 World Cup. Agreement details The agreement was signed by Fahad Al Muhairi, Boeing's regional president for the Middle East and North Africa, and Nawal Aït Hamou, Director of Air Operations, Royal Air Maroc. The agreement includes the refurbishment of the cabins of seven new Boeing 787-8 aircraft acquired by the company between 2015 and 2018, with the aim of raising the level of passenger comfort in them to the level of newer long-range aircraft that later entered service. Each 787-8 can seat 274 passengers, while the airline's long-haul fleet includes six newer Boeing 787-9s, which can seat more than 300 passengers. partnership spanning more than 70 years and Al Muhairi confirmed that Boeing Royal Air Maroc has a partnership of more than 70 years, and the American company will continue to work with the Moroccan carrier in refurbishing its aircraft cabins in the coming years in preparation for the 2030 World Cup. This announcement comes days later The company has revealed an agreement to provide 41 aircraft with satellite Internet service "Starlink", becoming the first African airline to provide this service to its passengers, free of charge to members of the "Safar Flyer" program. Why it matters The renovation of the cabins of the Royal Air Maroc fleet comes in the context of Morocco's preparations to host the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal, a date that is expected to raise pressure on the national carrier and air traffic to and from the Kingdom. The move also comes as part of the company's broader expansion program Wataniya, which seeks to modernize the passenger experience on board its aircraft in parallel with the development of its fleet, reflecting the volume of investments witnessed by the Moroccan aviation sector at this stage.
