French-Korean artist Flavie Bébéar inaugurated a new cultural space called "La Villa des Arts by Flavie" in Essaouira on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in the presence of figures from the cultural, artistic and media spheres. The venue is dedicated to contemporary art, design, wellness and cultural exchange among creators from diverse backgrounds.

A Blend of Moroccan, French and Korean Influences

La Villa des Arts brings together art, design, colors and materials drawing inspiration from South Korea, France and Morocco, in an intimate space designed by Flavie Bébéar as a platform for meeting, cultural exchange and transmission between generations. Throughout the year, it will host concerts, lectures, workshops and art exhibitions.

Bébéar explained her choice of Essaouira, saying: "I could have chosen Paris, Seoul, London... but I chose Essaouira," stressing that her goal is to create a space for meeting, cultural exchange and passing knowledge on to younger generations, while showcasing emerging talent.

Why This Project Matters

The opening of La Villa des Arts comes amid a cultural momentum in Essaouira, which is preparing to host the "City of Arts and Culture" project by 2027, a modern infrastructure expected to boost the coastal city's international cultural profile, known for its music festivals and architectural heritage. The project reflects growing interest among foreign artists in Essaouira as a destination for creativity and contemporary art, away from major cultural capitals.
