A new book brings together Moroccan and Spanish academics on the shared history of Andalusia

The "Chair of Andalusia" of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco issued a collective book entitled "Coexistence in Andalusia", which combines studies by Moroccan and Spanish academics on a prominent station of the history of the Iberian Peninsula shared between the two shores of the Mediterranean. Al-Andalus: A Joint Historical Station The term Andalusia historically refers to the period from the Islamic conquest of the Iberian Peninsula in 711 AD to the fall of Granada in 1492, an era that deeply marked cultural and scientific relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean, and whose effects are still present in architecture, language and arts in Morocco and Spain alike. The content of the publication includes a set of in-depth academic studies dealing with the dimensions of civilizational and cultural coexistence that characterized the Andalusian period, with the contributions of researchers from Morocco and Spain. The publication comes in multiple languages that reflect the common nature of the subject. Scientific and cultural value This publication is part of ongoing institutional efforts, led by a chair of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, which was established in 1977 as a royal scientific institution, to document the deep historical relations between Morocco and Spain, and constitutes a qualitative addition to the academic library specialized in Andalusian and Mediterranean studies.
