Morocco Tourism: Over 14 Million Visitors by End of August 2026

Morocco welcomed more than 14.1 million tourists from the start of 2026 through the end of August, a 4.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025 — around 608,000 additional arrivals — according to data from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.
August 2026 alone marked a historic milestone for the sector, surpassing 2 million tourists in a single month for the first time ever, up 3% from August 2025, confirming the strength of the summer season and sustained demand for Morocco as a destination.
Record travel revenues
The improvement was not limited to arrivals: travel receipts reached 79.009 billion dirhams by the end of July 2026, up 13.4% compared to the first seven months of 2025, according to the same figures.

Minister Ammor's comment
Commenting on the figures, Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said "the dynamic of Moroccan tourism is sustainably based on solid foundations," adding that the 2023-2026 Roadmap "demonstrated that by investing strategically on key levers, results follow," both in terms of visitor numbers and the sector's socio-economic impact.
Why it matters
Tourism remains one of Morocco's leading sources of foreign currency and employment. The figures also come alongside broader growth in air travel: the National Airports Authority (ONDA) had already reported more than 22 million passengers during the first seven months of 2026, up 8.77%. The minister noted the sector "has considerable potential" and that the next phase should "benefit all territories and stakeholders in the sector."
