Morocco 2026 Elections: CNDH Accredits 3,006 Observers
The Special Commission for Accrediting Election Observers at Morocco's National Council for Human Rights has accredited 3,006 observers to monitor the September 23, 2026 legislative elections, drawn from 26 Moroccan associations and 30 international and regional bodies.
The Special Commission for Accrediting Election Observers, under Morocco's National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) chaired by Amina Bouayach, has granted accreditation to 3,006 observers to monitor the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, following meetings held between September 4 and 7.
This observation network covers all twelve regions of the Kingdom, as part of the Council's effort to ensure "independent and neutral" monitoring of the electoral process in line with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Breakdown of Accredited Observers
| Category | Number |
|---|---|
| CNDH observers | 783 |
| Moroccan NGO observers | 2,023 |
| International observers | about 200 |
| Total | 3,006 |
The accreditation file also includes 26 accredited Moroccan non-governmental associations, alongside 30 international and regional bodies, and representatives from 20 international NGOs and diplomatic missions, coming from Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Training Ahead of Accreditation
The accreditation followed an extensive training program organized by the Council: 137 observer trainers were trained in June 2026, before 1,313 observers completed regional training across 33 centers in 23 Moroccan cities.
Why It Matters
The accreditation of observers comes at a sensitive stage of the electoral process, after more than a thousand candidacies were registered for the legislative elections in recent days. The scale of this observation network, deployed across every region of the Kingdom, signals the level of civil and international scrutiny on the integrity of the vote, as attention turns to the September 23 deadline that will shape Morocco's next political landscape.
