Morocco's Ministry of Interior announced, in an official statement, that the deadline for online registration of candidacy files for the House of Representatives elections, scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, will expire tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at noon, via the dedicated digital platform. This online registration is a mandatory step that precedes the physical filing of candidacy files with the competent authority.

Two Successive Steps for Filing Candidacies

According to the statement, the candidacy process involves two steps: the first concerns filing the candidacy declaration directly with the competent authority, from Monday, August 31 at 8:00 a.m. until Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at noon. The second step concerns the candidacy declaration via the dedicated electronic platform, which candidates must complete before tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8, at noon — one day before the physical filing deadline.

Why This Deadline Matters

Meeting both successive deadlines is critical for political parties and candidate lists, since failing to complete either step on time results in the candidacy being excluded from competition for seats in the lower house. These reminders come as preparations for the legislative elections accelerate, after authorities registered, in the final days of the filing period, more than a thousand candidacies nationwide for the September 23 elections, a sign of the competition expected among parties and independent lists.

As the vote approaches, the Ministry of Interior is calling on all candidates and parties to strictly adhere to the legal deadlines, to avoid any issues that could prevent their files from being accepted by the competent commissions.
