Google Grants Higher Education Students in Morocco a Free Year of Google AI Plus

Google has renewed its initiative for higher education students in Morocco for the second year in a row, allowing them to benefit from a free one-year subscription to Google AI Plus. The offer includes advanced features of the artificial intelligence robot Gemini in search, document analysis and writing, in addition to the Deep Research tool that collects data from multiple sources to accomplish comprehensive research, and cloud storage space of up to 400 GB distributed among Google Drive applications Google has set three basic conditions to benefit from the free subscription: that the student is at least 16 years old, that he/she is already registered in a higher education institution in Morocco, and that he/she has a personal Google account. Activation steps The activation goes through four steps: Using a personal Google account, then verifying student status through the SheerID service specialized in verifying academic identity, which may require a university email or registration document, then activating the offer via Google's platform for students, and finally entering performance information without deducting any amount during the free period. Students wishing to benefit must activate the offer before December 31, 2026, provided that the subscription continues for a period of 12 months starting from the actual date of activation. What happens after the free period ends? After the twelve months, the subscription automatically switches to performance mode unless the student cancels it himself, knowing that Google sends an advance notice to the user before proceeding to deduct any amount. This initiative comes in the context of an increasing competition among major technology companies to expand the user base of artificial intelligence tools within university circles, after tools such as Gemini have become part of daily academic work in research, data analysis and text drafting.
