Morocco's High Commission for Planning reports that foreign visitor spending reached 154 billion dirhams in 2025, up 12.5%, pushing tourism's share of GDP to 7.5%.
Morocco's High Commission for Planning (HCP) revealed, in its 2025 tourism satellite account, that foreign visitor spending in Morocco reached 154 billion dirhams, up 12.5% from 136.9 billion dirhams in 2024. This performance pushed the sector's share of national GDP to 7.5%, up from 7.2% the previous year.
2025 Tourism Consumption Figures
According to the tourism satellite account, total tourism consumption in Morocco reached 222.4 billion dirhams, compared with 201.7 billion in 2024, a rise of 10.3%. Here is the breakdown:
| Category | 2025 | 2024 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inbound (foreign visitor) consumption | 154 billion DH | 136.9 billion DH | +12.5% |
| Domestic and outbound tourism consumption | 68.4 billion DH | 64.8 billion DH | +5.5% |
| Total tourism consumption | 222.4 billion DH | 201.7 billion DH | +10.3% |
The share of foreign visitor spending within total tourism consumption rose to 69.2%, up from 67.9% in 2024, while the share of domestic and outbound tourism fell to 30.8%.
Tourism GDP Outpaces Overall Economic Growth
Tourism production reached 199.4 billion dirhams, up from 181.9 billion, while tourism value added jumped to 106.8 billion dirhams, up from 96.4 billion, a rise of 10.8%. Tourism GDP stood at 129.7 billion dirhams, compared with 116.2 billion in 2024, a growth of 11.7%, also driven by a 16% rise in net taxes on the sector's products.
Why This Number Matters
Tourism GDP growth of 11.7% clearly outpaces the growth rate of the national economy as a whole, confirming tourism as one of the key pillars underpinning Morocco's public finances and foreign currency reserves. At 7.5% of national GDP, the sector strengthens the government's goals of attracting more foreign tourists in the coming years.
