A Russian drone strike on Dnipro's train station kills 14 people and injures 14 others, raising Thursday's nationwide toll from Russian strikes in Ukraine to 19, Kyiv says.

At least 14 people were killed on Thursday in a Russian drone strike on a crowded platform at the main train station in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, where a suburban train and a passenger train were preparing to depart for Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukraine's state rail operator, Ukrzaliznytsia. At least 14 others were injured, six of them critically, including an 11-year-old boy, the regional governor said on Telegram.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack "horrific," writing that Russian forces had "hit the platform where a suburban train and a passenger train were standing." The strike, together with separate Russian attacks on several Ukrainian cities the same day, raised the nationwide death toll to at least 19: two teenagers were killed in Chernihiv and three people in a strike on a residential building in Kremenchuk, while Kharkiv's mayor reported damage to an educational institution. Russia's defence ministry also said the same day that it had struck a Ukrainian military cargo vessel in the Black Sea. Zelenskyy called on the United States and Europe to take "fair and decisive steps" against Russian escalation, while criticising a deal announced by US President Donald Trump allowing a resumption of Russian diesel exports to world markets in exchange for an easing of US sanctions on Moscow.

European Council President António Costa condemned the attack and urged international partners to increase pressure on Moscow, while French President Emmanuel Macron said he was "saddened," saying Russia was "choosing escalation" by targeting civilians. Moscow did not directly comment on the Dnipro strike, but Russia's defence ministry said, according to Russian state agency TASS, that it had intercepted more than 600 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow overnight, as the Russian capital hosted a summit with more than 20 African leaders. The attack is part of a continuing Russian campaign against Ukraine's rail infrastructure, which has become a recurring target in recent months, including stations and transport hubs used daily by thousands of families.
