Morocco's diesel price falls 20 centimes per liter from October 16, 2026, after months of increases since July, while gasoline stays stable at levels that still weigh on households.

Diesel prices in Morocco will drop by 20 centimes per liter starting at midnight on Friday, October 16, 2026, falling from around 15.81 to about 15.61 dirhams per liter, while gasoline (super) remains stable at around 15.33 dirhams, according to the new price update announced by fuel distributors.

The adjustment is part of the periodic fuel price review carried out by distributors twice a month, at the start and middle of each month. The announced prices remain indicative and may vary slightly between cities and service stations.

Successive increases since July

The decrease follows a series of consecutive diesel price hikes since mid-July 2026: between 65 and 70 centimes on July 16, a full dirham in early August, 65 centimes in mid-August, 6 centimes in early September, then 80 centimes in late September. The current 20-centime drop therefore remains modest compared to the scale of recent increases.

Gasoline prices fluctuated over the summer before rising by 39 centimes in the last update, which took effect on the night of September 30 to October 1, which explains its current stability.

Continued pressure on household budgets

Despite this slight decline, diesel and gasoline prices remain relatively high, continuing to weigh on the budgets of Moroccan households and professionals who rely on fuel daily, starting with taxi and truck drivers. Morocco had recently recorded diesel crossing the 15-dirham-per-liter threshold, while data from the Ministry of Economy and Finance show continued pressure on household purchasing power and a still-elevated unemployment rate.

The outcome of the next revision, expected in early November, will depend on international crude oil prices and the dirham's exchange rate, as the government continues to apply a free-market pricing system without direct intervention in fuel pricing.
